Potential Obsticles

Some things to consider are obstacles I might face. One obstacle I might face is not being able to get enough photography done by the end of the basketball season to have sufficient content for my magazine. I will make sure that I can make time for things like photoshoots so that I can have plenty to work with. Another obstacle I might encounter is the cooperability of my teammates  to do these photoshoots and get good pictures of them for the magazine. I can overcome this by giving time in advance for me to plan, coodinate, and execute anything I might do.

Design Techniques

The design techniques I plan on using are simple. I will use simple structures for my pages such as photos for the main highlight, and text to go along with it. These will be presented in columns to keep each page neat and comprehensible. I will make sure that the features aren't overwhelming and create a balanced canvas for my audience to enjoy.

Content

The type of content that my magazine will feature are articles based on High School Basketball. The articles will consist of photos from games and practice, and quotes from the players themselves. This will meet my audiences expectations by giving them a unique perspective that not everybody gets to see. It gives you the high schooler's perspective and is created in the perspective of me, a high school basketball player.

Mood Board

Image
This mood board demonstrates my magazine very well because it represents what it's about. It shows the main focus of basketball and shows that it is also focused towards my audience of high school athletes. It is a direct representation of my theme of high school basketball players and who my audience is.

Target Audience

The magazine is designed to target, educate, and inspire, student athletes, specifically high school basketball players, parents, and coaches. The purpose is to real life insights of the challenges, resources and opportunities student athletes face. My magazine will appeal to this audience as they can learn from peers experiencing the same challenges and because of the unique perspective that it's written in.

Magazine Research

Image
I did research on three magazines. These were Mr. Relevant by sports illustrated, Jordan the Rookie Season, and Michael Jordan the Greatest of All Time by LIFE Magazine. These magazines were very similar because they are all sports related. Most of the fonts were big, blocky letter and simple fonts. They all used colors based on the featured athlete and the covers each displayed an iconic player (Brock Purdy and Michael Jordan). Most of the pages were based around an image with columned description or quotes. Overall, the pages were very simple with a clear goal, to describe the pictures shown, (how great MJ's achievements were).                                        This is an example of how the layout of the magazine was constructed. Blog Creation

Hi!  My name is Dalen, and this site is where I'll be blogging my AICE Media Studies Magazine Project. Over the next few months, I am going to take you courtside as I research, design, and create my final project.  My goal is to create an EVERYTHING you need to know Basketball Magazine that features high school basketball athletes and what they need to know as they to be successful during and after high school. My goal is to create a magazine that combines my love for basketball and content to help students and parents navigate this journey. Thank you for reading and following my journey.  Please leave any ideas or suggestions!
