Reflecting on CCR Content from My First Magazine Photo Shoot
1. How did your photo shoot align with your original vision?
My first photoshoot aligned with my original vision very well and had very few challenges. However, that doesn't mean that there were zero, there were a few challenges and differences between my original vision and what was produced. The lighting was a lot better than expected, requiring less lighting produced by me, and the subject is an object that stays still. The real challenges were unexpected things like people and time variables. The place that I went to is public, so I had to go at a time when the people were manageable, and I had to make sure I had enough time to get good, quality shots.
4. How did you use technology and equipment to bring your vision to life?
The thing that worked the best wasn't a big fancy camera with an army of lights to set up. I mostly used my phone's camera and some lights on the side to direct the focus to the subject. The lighting was mainly natural or already produced by the building. I also used some different techniques on my phone. I used things like portrait mode to get a clear and focused shot on my subject and blurred the surroundings to limit the distractions. The only real technical difficulties were figuring out the best spot/angle and how to control the shadows or unwanted factors that light can produce. Other than that, there weren't any problems with the technology.
6. What aspects of your photo shoot would you improve for the next session?
Some things that I will be taking into consideration are the different angles and styles of photography I can use to create the perfect product. Since I need to do another shooting, I will use the things that worked well from the first photo shoot and take new things like angles, depth of field, and other techniques to create an even better photo than before. I can better prepare for this by planning ahead and making sure that most variables that are somewhat controllable are controlled to the best of my ability.
Final Thoughts:
My experience from Day 1 will bring forward a better use of technology and techniques to shape the overall theme and feelings of my final magazine. The key takeaways are the mistakes that were made and the things that worked well. These are super important to reflect on because they can help with future photo shoots with experience from both good things and bad things. That allows me to play around with things that I believe can help create a better photo and can greatly impact the efficiency and quality of my magazine producing.
